Find Your Coffee: Light, Medium or Dark Roast

Choosing your next coffee starts with two decisions: the roast you enjoy and whether you want ground coffee or whole beans. Here is how to choose from Iron Tide Coffee Co.’s three blends. Every option comes in a 12 oz (340 g) bag.

Start with the roast

First Light: light roast

First Light is a sweet blend of coffee from Central America and Africa. Choose it if you prefer the light-roast option in our lineup. If you make espresso and want to adjust the grind yourself, the whole bean version gives you that control.

Shop First Light ground coffee or First Light whole bean coffee.

Harborbound: medium roast

Harborbound is our balanced house blend with medium body and acidity. If you are unsure where to start and already enjoy medium-roast coffee, this is a straightforward first choice.

Shop Harborbound ground coffee or Harborbound whole bean coffee.

Blackwater: dark roast

Blackwater is our dark-roast blend of specialty-grade coffee from Central America. Choose it if a dark roast is what you usually reach for. If you would rather stay with a medium roast, start with Harborbound.

Shop Blackwater ground coffee or Blackwater whole bean coffee.

Ground coffee or whole bean?

Choose ground coffee for convenience. It is already ground, so you do not need a grinder. Follow your brewer’s instructions for the amount of coffee and water.

Choose whole bean for control over the grind. You will need a grinder. Match the grind size to your brewing equipment and grind the amount you need before brewing. Whole bean is the more flexible choice when your method calls for a specific grind, such as espresso or French press.

Make your first comparison simple

Try one roast using your usual brewing method, then adjust one thing at a time. Keep the coffee-to-water ratio and brewing method consistent when comparing two blends so you can decide which you prefer. The right choice is the one you enjoy drinking.
